Buckeye Community Garden Seeks Volunteers
The Buckeye Community Garden is looking for a few Volunteers to work on a garden learning program for children. Volunteers must be available during school hours.
This volunteer would build relationships with Buckeye Pre-schools and Elementary Schools (K-12 grade) and home-schooled groups. We want the Community Garden to be a field trip destination for school classrooms, especially those schools that are within walking distance of the garden. We want these classes to teach children:
- Where their food comes from
- All about Bugs
- How plants grow
- About worms
- Healthy Eating
- And much more…
This volunteer would be responsible for designing these classes and teaching them. We have funding for some materials, but money may need to be raised to purchase items desired for some of these classes. It would be great if we could get a team of folks that want to help with this project.
Because the Police Department sponsors the Community Garden, any interested volunteers must sign up to be a Buckeye Police Department Volunteer (doing Garden Work) and will have to pass the Police Departments volunteer background check since they will be working with children.
The volunteer application and background packet is attached.
Volunteers will work closely with the garden manager to build this program.
