Pat and Don Schelling
"Coming to Arizona was the best thing that ever happened to us."
Don and Pat moved to Arizona in 2008 from Spokane, Washington. After enduring one too many freezing winters in the northwest, they decided to try something different. They wanted something that was a little out of the way and not in a large city where you don’t get to know your neighbors. Sun City Festival is a perfect fit. Both grew up in small communities, so it was natural that they fell in love with our desert community. Don was originally from a very small town in central California and attended the University of Nevada in Reno. Pat was born and raised in Spokane and graduated from Washington State University.
Don is a retired business owner and presently sells real estate exclusively in Festival. Pat is a retired commercial interior design professional. Between the two of them, they have five grown children and eight grandchildren.
Two years ago, Don started playing Pickleball and quickly fell in love with the game and the people. He is presently the President of the Pickleball Club and has been since 2011. He also is a member of the Barrel Buddies Club and feels that it is important to be a good community steward so has taken on an Adopt-A-Highway mile on Sun Valley Parkway. Pat is more sedate due to illness from RA (rheumatoid arthritis) but hopes to be able to get out more and enjoy life. She is also a member of Barrel Buddies. Life is sweet!
