Dick has always lived in Minnesota and still owns a home in Waite Park (St. Cloud area). Previously, he has lived in various Minnesota towns such as Willmar, Rochester, and Mankato. He has two wonderful step kids, a son and daughter, who live in Minnesota. His daughter has two young children whom he enjoys spending time with.
Dick has been in the Holiday Inn hotel business since he was 16 years old and now, along with his sister-in-law, has two Holiday Inns in St. Cloud including a Holiday Express Hotel & Suites and one that is a full-service conference center. He owned a 32-foot Grand Banks boat in the Seattle area from November 2006-February 2011 and met some wonderful people while taking many great trips in Puget Sound, San Juan Islands and into British Columbia, Canada.
For the past 17 years, Dick has presented the Junior Achievement Program to K-3rd graders in St. Cloud. Because of his involvement in the Junior Achievement Program, he is in the classroom about 50 times each year, and this past year he presented the J. A. Program to 1st and 2nd graders here at Festival Foothills Elementary School. A few years ago he also presented this program in Belize, Central America.
Dick moved into his Sun City Festival home in October 2012 and enjoys going to church, has attempted to play pickleball, plays bunco, bocce ball, and participates in the Social Dance Club. Morning coffee in the Cyber Cafe with friends is a favorite time. He also likes jogging approximately four miles, three times per week to help him clear his head. He doesn’t drink alcohol but likes to socialize and is always ready to gather with friends. He said, “I feel blessed to have found all of you here at Sun City Festival” and has been graciously welcomed into his neighborhood.
