Pam and Dave Warman
Pam and Dave are both native Californians and met while attending California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. This coming February, they will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They have two grown children, a son and a daughter, and two grandchildren; all residing in Southern California. Their two mini-schnauzers, Barkley and Tallie, can be seen each morning and evening walking their owners.
When looking to retire, Pam and Dave wanted to be in a place that was a reflection of who they are, and both have always been active and involved with community. They were hoping for a community where the residents were friendly, caring and active. Many important factors entered into their new retirement home; being near a major airport, having excellent medical care close, and living in an active desert community. Sun City Festival met this criteria and much more. On their first visit they were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and how everyone waved hello to them as they drove through the neighborhoods. Living here is like living in a small town where neighbors care for one another. The fact that Sun City Festival is situated next to the White Tank Mountains helped in making their decision to live here, the views are superb and the facilities are top notch. Dave and Pam have always loved the desert and are so happy that they reside in a great community.
Pam is a retired elementary school principal and was so fortunate to be at the same school for 14 years, and the same school where she was an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher prior to going into administration. Before becoming a principal, Pam also taught third and fifth grades, and was a Title I teacher. Pam took over as Lead for Caring Neighbors six months ago and enjoys working with the wonderful volunteers. She is active in Paper Crafts and More and serves as its secretary, and is also a member of the Glass Arts Club and currently serves on the “mold cleaning committee”. You can find Pam at the Sage Center working with Caring Neighbors, playing Euchre, Pinochle, and Beginner’s Bridge. Pam took the Player’s Club Mah Jongg class and now enjoys playing this challenging game with friends. Also on Pam’s activity list is participating in Lady Putters Club and playing bocce ball. After healing from two foot surgeries this past year, Pam is looking forward to working out in the gym, taking some exercise classes, and going on more hikes with the Hiking Club.
Dave was a CPA in California before retirement. After retiring, he worked for their son’s business installing custom sound systems in high-end homes and businesses, and enjoys working with his hands. Dave has helped to build their son’s home, and renovated and remodeled their daughter’s house inside and out. Dave is very active in the Softball Club and was recently in charge of the scorekeepers. He loves the sport and enjoys the comradery while playing with his teammates. Dave also enjoys participating in games offered by the Player’s Club such as Euchre and Pinochle. Some of his other interests include hiking with the Hiking Club, playing bocce ball, and riding his bike around the community.
Dave and Pam are avid travelers and have been to Europe and Costa Rica several times. Last year they went to the Baltic countries, Russia, and former East Germany and found these countries to be very interesting. Their favorite trip by far was their cruise along the Mekong in Cambodia and Vietnam. Currently, they are planning to visit all of the sites right in our backyard of Arizona. Pam and Dave recently took the train to the Grand Canyon with their daughter and were in awe of the beautiful country, there is so much to see and do right here. Sun City Festival is an awesome place to retire, the views are fabulous, the community is so friendly, and they never lack activities to do. Great clubs, great facilities, great people!
