Joe Peiffer and Nikki Miles
When we purchased our home in Sun City Festival in 2007, we were attracted by the beautiful desert location, outstanding facilities and colorful landscape. We started off coming here once a month for 10 to12 days during the winter season. It wasn’t until 2011 when we started coming for the full season that the true uniqueness was revealed. Festival is like a friendly small town! Everyone waves when you drive by, says “hi” when you pass, and always greets you with a smile when you meet. My mother, Florence, was the person who fell in love with this community first. She came to visit her dear friends Jerry and Nancy Moore and decided to become a snowbird in one day! We wholeheartedly agreed.
Nikki is a retired teacher and the artist in the family. She loves the Fine Arts Club and volunteered to be the president three years ago. Her favorite medium is “pastels” just like her gandfather. Maybe it runs in the family!
Joe was a partner in a medical device company with his brother. The company was sold in 1997 and he
decided to try the retirement lifestyle. Most days you can find him at the Sage Center working out and
enjoying the hot tub or floating in the pool. He loves planning our next road trip. We just got back from a few days exploring the Saguaro National Park and Tubac.
During the other half of the year, we live in a small mountain town just west of Denver called Evergreen. Colorado is home to family, lifelong friends and spectacular mountain weather.
We are lucky to have a son who is a Graphic Arts teacher in Denver. Brian strives to make his students feel like his class is an ‘Oasis’ in the turmoil of High School. Rounding out our family are our two ragdoll cats…MoJo and Tucker. They follow us all day and night, run to greet visitors at the door and are great comedians.
We think living in Colorado during the summer and Festival the rest of the year makes for a perfect life! It’s been great watching the community grow and exciting to hear about future plans.
